Born on the 16th day of March to the family of Mr/s Leonard Okonkwo of Ichi Umungwu Umuohama Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area, Anambra State Nigeria. Being the fourth child in the family of five, I grew-up with a niece family upbringing. Is my pleasure to immediately commend my parents for their effort in bringing me thus far, both being a disciplinarian trained us in the right path both spiritually, morally, psychologically, emotionally, and otherwise. That we may be sound all round to face the ever changing and ever unfolding world. My parent belief that: “Everything is possible for the sincere trier, as all things are impossible for a coward who seeks opportunity to run away from his job.” This they inculcated in us from the word go and had been our vademecum, thank God for them as I pray for more blessings upon them.
I started from kindergarten through nursery and primary in Assumption Nursery and Primary school Umuohama Ukpor. This was where the foundation was laid; and I would wish to thank all my teachers and aunties, who worked in-hand with the family to nurture me. They built my love for education by giving me the basics of all I needed to succeed as education then was the only panacea for old age. Being a mission school, it moral and spiritual impact on me cannot be estimated. This is why I still belief that the church as the “Mother” still has much role to play in our educational system at all levels.
From primary school, I graduated and went to secondary school to continue the struggle. I had my studies in St. Paul’s Seminary Ukpor Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. There it was formation all through and I thank God who made it possible that could scale through the rigorous training there. In a special way I wish to thank the father rectors that served while I was there, the formators, assistant formators, staffs both academic and non-academic for their impact on me during those days. There I was exposed to the wider sphere of life in preparation for tomorrow. Thank God I never gave-up when it seemed tough. From the seminary I graduated as a Latin Diplomat (Urbanian University Rome), with my ever-green O-level certificate, I served as a junior seminarian in the seminary for a year before proceeding to the higher institution of learning.
Sally M Veillette in his book titled”Coming To Your Senses ” wrote: ‘ our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us…. As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.’ One thing is certain: You cannot find if you are not searching. Aristotle was of this view when he said: ‘Man acquires a particular quality by constantly acting in particular way.’
It has been my desire to tap from ICT reservoir but had no opportunity until I attended a youth empowerment seminar tagged:” The Power of H3 – Head, Hand, and Heart” held in Awka, Anambra State, there APTECH Computer Education
representatives were one of the guest speakers, it was after the seminar that enquired, registered, and enrolled with them for a short term program. Thank God today that I am a certified front-end programmer, and an up-coming GIS analyst.
